The Dressmaking Process

The Consultation

The client makes an appointment by phone or e-mail for her first consultation. SIGI Bridal Wear understands that time is often short, therefore consultations can also be arranged at weekends and in the evenings. The client is encouraged to bring along photographs, magazines

and anything else which might help her to illustrate the style she would like. The designer has many designs, photographs and sample fabrics the client can see and discuss, along with dresses to illustrate various styles. The client's exact measurements are taken and after the consultation a design is drawn up and sent to the client along with fabric samples and a price quote.

Making the Prototype

As soon as the design has been confirmed by the client, a pattern is drawn and cut and a prototype made in calico.

Fitting the Prototype

The client tries on the prototype. This is an important stage in the process, giving the

client the opportunity to

clearly see how the finished dress will look and feel and enabling the designer to see if any adjustments are necessary. At this time it is possible to make changes to the design if the client decides the chosen style doesn't suit her or needs altering in any way.

Making Adjustments

The designer makes adjustments to the pattern if necessary.

Making and Fitting the Dress

The dress is made in the chosen fabrics and fitted. If everything is perfect the dress can be finished.

The Final Fitting

The dress is completed and ready for collection. It is fitted one last time to ensure that everything is 100% perfect.
